Whether you’re an athlete, a soldier, a medic or an office worker… Almost everyone of us has heard the famous phrase “All for one, one for all!” by D’Artagnan, the hero of Alexander Dumas’ novel. This motto of friendship between young and ambitious musketeers eventually evolved into a strong principle of unity and teamwork, which is embodied by the Lithuanian Mint in its new coin  – D’Artagnan and the Musketeers.

It’s like one fist

The last challenging year have taught us many valuable lessons. One of them showed that only by being united and communal can we achieve much more than being singly. Only by becoming one team can we mobilise all our strength and find the determination to overcome pandemics and other plagues. Thus, the principle that guided the musketeers – “All for one, one for all!” – should be a guiding principle for every successful team today.

Researchers have shown that teamwork tends to produce far better results than when people work individually. That is why companies should focus more on fostering community engagement. Working in a group increases productivity and improves results. It also makes it easier to adapt to change and gives each employee – a member of the team – more opportunities to express themselves.

Inspired by the fundamental values and the D’Artagnan’s motto, the tem of the Lithuanian Mint decided to create this symbol of teamwork and unity – the D’Artagnan and the Musketeers coin. It could become a great tribute to team unity, a constant reminder of how strong you are together.

D’Artagnan – a reflection of team spirit

The coin features D’Artagnan, one of the main protagonists of the historical adventure novel The Three Musketeers, in the centre of the reverse. He is a young, poor nobleman from Gascony who comes to Paris to make a fortune. His character is one of courage, nobility, ambition and intelligence. Like any romantic hero, he is driven by love and a chivalrous spirit, so sometimes D’Artagnan crosses certain boundaries, but nevertheless he is an invaluable ally and the soul of the team. It is this courageous young man who is the pioneer of the idea that each individual should act for the good of the group and the group – for the good of each of its members.

The obverse of the coin features a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The coin is produced using high-relief, UV printing and ageing techniques, which give it a distinctive design. The D’Artagnan and the Musketeers coin is sold in a special blue box.
